Logomark

A logomark is the symbol-only part of a logo. It works without the company name next to it because the shape itself has become the brand. Apple does not need the word "Apple" under the apple. Nike does not need "Nike" under the swoosh. The mark carries the meaning alone.

Not every brand can or should use a standalone logomark. It takes years of consistent exposure for a symbol to become recognizable on its own. Startups usually need their name visible. Established brands can let the mark do the work.

The strongest logomarks have a simple, memorable silhouette that works at any size, from a favicon to a billboard.
