Ship alerts in context when the event has urgency, a single clear owner, and an action that can be completed inside the notification in under 30 seconds. Use them for SLA breaches, revenue threshold crosses, usage anomalies in tools like Mixpanel, or support ticket spikes in Intercom where the alert lists the top three issues with a button to draft a help-center article. They fit operational roles that live in Slack and need speed over exploration. Test signal-to-noise with a small cohort first. One billing product in early 2024 blasted 87 alerts to a single finance admin in one day. She muted the bot before lunch and the team spent two sprints rebuilding thresholds and adding snooze controls. Context without restraint is just noise with extra steps.
